Would you go with a larger main service panel?ģ) The west wall would be 2x4 studs with drywall and sound insulation. Some day I might have an electric car or two. How large should that be? 100amps? Also, the general contractor things a 200 amp main service panel is plenty, but I'd like to future proof the house. My thought on dust collection is that everything will run along the east or south walls.Ģ) I was planing on having a sub panel run to the shop for ease in running electric. I'm thinking I might run one underfloor power line to the workbench though to avoid tripping over the cords.

The new shop will be a huge improvement for me being four times the size, 9 foot ceilings, and a separate door to the outside for ease of lumber delivery. I actually have to use my table saw as my assembly table! It's too small for sure, but I love having a warm dedicated space for making sawdust in the wintertime. As background, I have a very small basement workshop at about 140 sq ft. The contractor wants to beat the rush and break ground early next year - "weather permitting". We've decided to build a new home and will be breaking ground early next year.
